YOUR LIFE CAN HAVE A SURE FOUNDATION

YOUR LIFE CAN HAVE A SURE FOUNDATION
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Luke 6:47-48
Hurricanes. Tornados. Mudslides. Floods. Wildfires. Tsunamis. Volcanoes. It almost doesn’t matter where we choose to live—everybody faces the threat of some kind of natural disaster.
And even if we do somehow manage to avoid life’s natural disasters, we don’t avoid emotional or marital or financial or occupational crises.
Jesus revealed where we can find ultimate security: through turning to him, listening to him, and obeying him.
It’s important to pay close attention to the promise—to note what Jesus says and doesn’t say. He doesn’t say that if we build our lives on his truth we will avoid all the storms and troubles of life. He does say that if we make him our foundation, we will endure the worst storms.
Are you facing storms? Are you feeling shaky? Renew your resolve to draw near to Jesus, to listen to his words, and to be a doer of his Word (see James 1:22). Then watch what happens!
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:
• If you come to me, listen to me and live as I command, your life will have stability and security.
MY PRAYER TO GOD:
Lord Jesus, you call me to follow you. I want to walk with you and listen to you and live as you lived. In a shaky, uncertain world, I want to experience the security and stability that only you can bring. Amen.
