GOD HONORS YOUR FAITH
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
1 Thessalonians 1:3
With coaches and teammates shouting instructions, the five-year-old in the oversized batting helmet swings with all his might, sending the T-ball rolling slowly toward third base. After several seconds of wild cheering, running and throwing, the batter sits on first base in a cloud of dust—safe!
Then an interesting thing happens. The kid scrambles to his feet and scans the crowd anxiously. Suddenly he beams. He spies his proud dad in the bleachers giving an enthusiastic “thumbs up” sign.
This hunger to please our earthly parents is a reminder of the truth that we were created ultimately to honor our heavenly Father. Exercising simple faith helps us do that.
Paul commended his “children”—the believers of Thessalonica—for their faith. He knew that when we seek the Lord in hard times and trust him to see us through, we bring glory to him. He promises to honor us too.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:
• I will honor your faith in me.
MY PRAYER TO GOD:
Lord, real faith is demonstrated by seeking after you. Give me a sincere heart, Lord, and a faith that pursues you. Living for you is the great hope of my soul. Amen.
