“Like Job, we are God’s instruments to reveal His power and glory”

The book of Job is considered the oldest book ever written. It describes the life of a wealthy family man who is god-fearing. Job was a faithful and a credible witness during his time. His life of faith proved that God until today is always in control and no enemy can touch God’s annointed and servants without His divine permission. 

It reveals in this story of Job that God will allow bad and difficult circumstances in our lives to send a message to Satan that he cannot simply attack a faithful servant of God. Too often, when go through difficult challenges, we are taken aback and there is no reason that can ever assuage our feelings. Have the faith of Job because the only way to victory is to trust the Lord. 

Job’s experience resulted into a total tragedy. It was worse than any one could ever experience in this life. He lost everything: his children, possesions, and his wife turned against him. As a man he was affected physically, emotionally, and mentally. In spite of the fact that he did not understand as to why God allowed all these to happen him, his spirit was strong. He remained faithful to God and continued to recognize His power and grace. He was totally commited to God’s will.

Job 1:21-22 KJV

[21] And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. [22] In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

The story of Job is widely known, even among those who do not believe in God. To them his life is a fine example and a great lesson about resiliency. But the story of Job’s life is all about God and how He works out everything in His power according to His will.

Job does not only talk about God in his life. With the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he shares about God’s work of creation and many more. The reason why Job was able to trust God for his life was because he believed that God was the creator of the vast universe. 

Let us now consider what else Job reveals that many of us miss:

1.Job 9:9 - “Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.”

•Job has knowledge of astronomy. He was able to identify the canstellation and called them by their names. 

•This was in a time where there was no powerful telescope.

•Who do you think revealed that to Job?

2.Job 26:7 - “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.”

•Job declares here that the whole universe is expanding and stretching from the North, where God is. It was only recently that the scientists know this.

•Job describes that the earth is round and hanging on nothing as the other heavenly bodies.

3.Job 37:9 - “Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.”

•Job was able to describe the direction of the wind without the modern technology we have today.

4.Job 40:15 - “Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.”(Read until verse 24)

•God told Job He created “behemoth,” a dinosour, the same way He created Job.

•Here also implies the existing of dinousors with humans.

5.Job 41:1,18-21 - “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?” By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.”

•Anothet dinosour “leviathan” - described as a fire dragon mentioned here

6.Job 38:4 - “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.”

•God identified Himself as the Creator

Conclusion:

It is amazing that God used Job to reveal Himself to all men, including us today. Job also understood God as his Redeemer and that he will be with Him forever. No wonder God blessed him and returned to him what everything he had lost and abundantly more!
