Blessed with Divine Fellowship
1 John 1:1-3 - “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
[2] (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
[3] That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”
The first epistle of John, written by the beloved Apostle John, emphasizes the central theme of "fellowship," which is paramount in our Christian life. Fostering a sense of togetherness and unity will help protect and support each other against life's adversities. However, only through our faith in Jesus Christ can we truly experience fellowship. This unique connection with our Lord and Savior allows us to unite as His children, serving and glorifying Him in unison.
In his description of fellowship, John portrays it as a divine interaction between believers and the Father and the Son. This connection is made possible through faith and the Holy Spirit, which enables believers to commune with God profoundly and meaningfully. The idea that we can experience intimate fellowship with God in our modern era is truly awe-inspiring. It is a testament to the enduring power of faith and its ability to connect us with the divine. (John 1:1-3).
In his teachings, John emphasizes the importance of fellowship with others and Jesus Christ. He points out a critical difference between happiness, which is often temporary and fleeting, and true joy, which can be experienced by following the guidance in 1 John. By applying John's words to our daily lives, we can enjoy a deep and meaningful connection with others through true love, commitment, fellowship, and joy.
Our text conveys that Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, came to establish a connection with us based on His grace, mercy, love, and acceptance. It highlights many people's misconceptions about God being detached from our daily struggles, issues, and concerns. The passage emphasizes that God is not distant but is always present and concerned about our well-being.
John's testimony tells us that Jesus is always present with us, whether we're going about our everyday routines or struggling through difficult challenges. As a witness to his own experiences, John affirms that God took on human form and dwelt among humanity. This incredible truth means that when Christ came to live among us, He didn't just visit for a time but chose to remain with us.
The fellowship between the Apostles and Jesus Christ was not just a mere human interaction but a divine connection that allowed them to also fellowship with the Father. Today, through the writings and testimonies of the Apostles, we can also experience this profound fellowship with Jesus Christ, who is in the presence of the Father.
Through this connection, we can tap into the divine nature of their fellowship and draw closer to God. The fellowship We have today is through the Power of the Holy Spirit, Who allows us to have fellowship with others in our lifetime and beyond.
The presence of Jesus in our lives is a powerful truth that can transform us. Just as He walked with John, we, too, can experience His presence with us every day. We can strive towards holiness and become more like Christ by applying this truth to our lives. This realization can inspire us to live with purpose and integrity, knowing we have a divine guide.
Our Prayer for today!
Oh gracious and loving God, we come to you with grateful hearts, for you are our ever-present help in times of need. Your constant presence in our lives brings us strength, comfort and hope, and we are forever thankful for your unending grace and mercy. We confess that we often forget your steadfast presence and struggle to see your hand at work in our lives. Yet, we pray that you would open our eyes to see and our hearts to feel your loving presence at all times, and that we would rest in the knowledge that you are always with us, watching over us and guiding us on our journey. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
