GOD SETS YOU FREE FROM FEAR

Psalm 34:4

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Fear encompasses a wide spectrum. It runs the gamut from terror to disquiet, from rare, all-consuming phobias to everyday, nagging trepidations. “How are we going to pay for that?” “Does this mole look funny to you?” “What if no one shows up?” “What if I miss my connecting flight?”

Psalm 34 tells us that the best remedy for our apprehensive moments is prayer. Not mouthing pious, rehearsed words, but honestly pouring out our hearts to the living God. When we seek God in fearful times, we will find him. In his presence, fear must flee. In its place comes unearthly joy. 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• I will answer your cries for help.

• I will free you from fear.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

God, there are a million and one “fearful” things in this world. Too often I take my eyes off you, and I allow my mind to play the “What if?” game. You have promised to hear me, to answer me, to help me. Thank you for being so attentive. Amen.
