Justified by grace through the Faith of Christ
Galatians 2:16 - “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
The book of Galatians contains an important message in Galatians 3:11: “The just shall live by faith.” This message holds immense significance and needs our unwavering attention. Any deviation from this truth or any attempt to compromise with legalism or the admixture of human effort and the grace of God for salvation leads to heresy. If we could be saved by keeping the Law, Jesus' sacrifice becomes inconsequential. The attempt to save ourselves through our efforts negates the very essence of grace.
As Christians, we believe that our salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. However, our faith isn't just a one-time decision we make and then forget about. Instead, it's a continuous process that shapes and guides our lives as we grow in our relationship with God. We don't generate faith on our own - it's a gift from God that we receive through His grace. Nevertheless, it's our responsibility and privilege to express the faith of Christ in our daily lives so that others can witness the transformative power of Christ in us.
The fruit we bear is a clear indication of the faith we possess. As Christians, we must consistently work towards strengthening our faith and allowing it to reflect in our actions so that others can witness the life of Jesus Christ through us.
The false teachings introduced by the Judaizers have continued to be a challenge for many, even today. As followers of Christ, we must strive to balance avoiding legalism and living without boundaries. Our faith in God is a gift of grace that we receive through faith, leading us to live a life guided by the Spirit.
Are you manifesting the fruit of the Spirit in your daily life, or are you living according to the flesh and selfish desires? Remember that it is possible to avoid the extremes and remain steadfast in your faith, free from legalism and empowered by the Spirit.
Galatians provides an inspiring reminder to lead a holy life with the knowledge that God's grace empowers us. Let's take Paul's words to heart and move forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
Our Prayer for today:
May we never forget, dear Heavenly Father, that our complete reliance is on You alone, and it is only through our faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ, that can we live the life of purpose and fulfillment that He has intended for us. Your unwavering grace empowers us to navigate the challenges of our daily lives and emerge victorious in fulfilling Your desires for us. We acknowledge that it is only by Your grace and our faith in You that we will emerge victorious in all circumstances. We humbly pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
