Psalm 34:14 - "Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it."

We live in very troubling times. Violence is widespread, and it seems that people everywhere are provoked so easily without any valid reason. Emotions run high and are volatile, leading to increasing incidents of violence and abuse.

We have seen and experienced all these in recent years. People do not feel protected. Crimes continue to rise because authorities fail to enforce the law. There is widespread disrespect for law enforcement, and over the past three years, there has been a move to defund law enforcement agencies.

If we cannot trust the country meant to protect us, as Christians, we must take action within our rights. With God's grace, we should obey and uphold God’s laws by living according to Biblical standards of morality and decency. Now is not the time to be silent or to feel intimidated by those who oppose God.

It is time to stand boldly and share our faith in Christ. If we, who claim to believe in God, do not spread the message of peace, who will? Let this be our resolve in 2026! Let us make a difference by showing the world that in Christ, even amid troubles, there is hope.

Our text offers wise and godly advice for all God's people:

- Depart from evil

- Do good

- Seek peace

- Pursue peace

Remember, departing from evil is not just about avoiding wrongdoers. It also means making a conscious effort to avoid harming others. Let's aim to live with integrity, avoiding any appearance of evil. We will all make mistakes, but together, let's do our best to improve and make the world a better place.

When we aim to do good, we must also strive to be good ourselves. It’s essential to recognize that doing good just for appearances isn’t truly virtuous. Genuine goodness comes from sincere intentions and a desire to impact others positively.

Living a life of peace isn’t just a wish; it’s a choice. We can choose to foster peace around us by making peace with those we meet. Seeking peace involves showing compassion and kindness, and doing our part to create a peaceful environment for everyone.

"Pursuing peace" goes beyond simply wanting peace. It means wholeheartedly following and obeying the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without His presence, true and lasting peace is impossible, because He is the source of all true peace.

Challenges and hardships are unavoidable in life, but they make peace possible. Without difficulties, peace would lack meaning. When we face and overcome obstacles, we can better appreciate the peace that follows.

Real peace isn’t just about the absence of troubles. It’s about living in peace despite difficulties. It’s about experiencing peace through the strength that comes from the Prince of Peace!
