God Protects in the Midst of the Enemies

Nehemiah 2:8-9: “…And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me. 

[9] Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.”

 Nehemiah was a man of extraordinary character who served as the cupbearer of King Artaxerxes of Persia. Despite not being a prophet or a priest, he managed to win the king's heart and was granted permission to travel to Judah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. The king even provided him with a letter to help him obtain the forest timber he needed for the construction.

Nehemiah's story is one of great faith and devotion. He loved the Lord and remained committed to serving Him, even in his role as a governor and cupbearer to a pagan king. He was a contemporary of the priest Ezra, and together, they led God's people to a revival, uniting them and helping them achieve their goal of rebuilding the wall.

Nehemiah's example shows that God can use anyone to accomplish His plans and bless His people. Even if we find ourselves in difficult circumstances, surrounded by enemies, or facing the consequences of our actions, God never abandons us. He continues to love, protect, and engage with us to fulfill His will in our lives.

Nehemiah's faithfulness to God was unwavering, and he never compromised his beliefs or sold himself out to his enemies. He trusted in God and pursued His will, even when difficult. We can learn from Nehemiah's example and continue to serve God faithfully, even in challenging and unfavorable circumstances.

As believers, we must strive to be the light and the salt of the earth, even in the midst of darkness and opposition. Let us remain faithful to God and perform our civic and social duties with integrity and devotion so that others may see the presence and grace of God in our lives.

Our Prayer for today:

We come to you, God, feeling alone and vulnerable, and aware of the threats that surround us. We are grateful for the stories of Nehemiah and Ezra, which remind us that you are always with us, and will never abandon us. We ask you to help us to face our current challenges with faith so that we may emerge from them stronger, more faithful, and better able to fulfill the purpose that you have for our lives. Please help us to stay strong and focused, and to carry out your will with energy and determination, knowing that this too will pass for Your desire to be fulfilled in us. In Jesus Name. Amen!
