GOD ORDERS YOUR STEPS

Psalm 37:23-24

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord : and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

Be honest. Doesn’t talk of heaven and eternity seem a bit unreal? Doesn’t it seem sensible to focus on the things of this world? When you do, doesn’t it seem as though evil has the upper hand? Don’t you wonder on occasion if God really sees or cares? Sometimes he seems so distant, perhaps even disinterested?

The thirty-seventh psalm was penned by David to urge the people of God to trust their Creator and not be shaken by the seeming good life of the godless. No matter how desperate things may appear, the truth is that God watches over his precious children. Like a caring father, he longs to walk with us, hold our hands and steer us through trouble (see Psalm 145:14; Proverbs 24:16; Micah 7:8).

No matter how you feel or how things seem, the reality is that God is there. Will you take his hand?

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• I direct your steps.

• I delight in the details of your life.

• I will not let you fall.

• I am holding your hand.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

As I walk with you, Lord, my steps are directed by you. Thank you for not leaving me to fend for myself. Your Word says you delight in every detail of my life. Thank you for the assurance that you care, that you see—even when it seems you are far away. O God, I may stumble in this life, but you promise to keep me from ultimate harm. Amen.
