GOD REJOICES OVER YOU

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

How do you show your delight in the ones you love? Perhaps you say it with flowers or candy, a card, a trip to a nice restaurant, or doing a chore for the person you love.

This delight is especially welcome after a rebuke. Consider the look on your child’s face when, after a scolding, you hug her and remind her of your love.

God shows his delight in his people in a special way: with a song. Is that an image you can readily grasp? Most of us, if we’re honest, would find that notion difficult to believe. This is due to a flawed view of God—as a stern disciplinarian who is would rather rebuke than rejoice. Yet the opposite is true. The Creator of the universe sings his delight in you.

If you’ve sensed the discipline of the Lord in your life, be assured by this promise from Zephaniah. God sings over you! 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• I take delight in you.

• I will rejoice over you with song.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Heavenly Father, I feel so blessed that you love me so much that you would sing over me. I offer you my heart unreservedly. Amen.
