GOD GIVES YOU THE SHIELD OF FAITH

Ephesians 6:16

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

In combat, a soldier’s shield was invaluable. It protected him from blows in hand-to-hand combat and shielded him when flaming arrows flew down from enemy lines. Whatever came his way, the soldier could hold up his shield and protect himself.

Believers need the shield of faith. Faith means total dependence on God. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” We need the shield of faith because Satan will shoot his fiery arrows of temptation, doubt, fear, despair, accusation or problems. Strong faith can deflect these arrows. With faith we trust that God is in control, that he loves us, and that he is working out everything for our good. Such faith can deflect Satan’s flaming arrows.

We’re not expected to have faith in our faith; faith in God is the key to victory. 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• You will be able to resist the enemy and stop the fiery arrows of Satan with the shield of faith.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Thank you, Lord, for the shield of faith to deflect Satan’s fiery arrows. I know that I will face a constant barrage of attacks throughout my life. May I use the shield of faith to provide protection. Amen.
