YOU ARE GOD’S FRIEND
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
John 15:14-15
Jesus is our friend. That’s a mind-blowing thought! Jesus, the glorious God of the universe, took on a frail human body, walked on the earth, faced ridicule and rejection, and was murdered by the people he had created. He faced pain and suffering because he loved us. He laid down his life. Why? So we could be his friends.
Friendship takes good communication and time spent together if the relationship is to grow. We can pray that our relationship with Jesus will be a “best friend” relationship, that we will love him, spend time with him and talk to him daily. When we are best friends with Jesus, we will have all the tools we need to love others as much as Jesus loves us. To love sacrificially, to love when that love is not returned, to love even the unlovable—that is Jesus’ kind of love.
GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:
• I loved you so much that I died for you.
• You can be my friend.
MY PRAYER TO GOD:
Lord, you command us as believers to love one another as you have loved us. You exemplified that love when you died for us. I pray that you will help me follow your command to love others with your kind of love. Amen.
